Anthony Sowell was a serial killer who murdered several women in Cleveland, Ohio from 2007 to 2009. He also became known as the “Cleveland Strangler” because he strangled his victims.

 

 

Who was Anthony Sowell, the Cleveland Strangler

Sowell was convicted in November 2011 of the murders of 11 women and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The investigation revealed that Sowell held his victims captive in his home and killed them before burying their bodies or hiding them in his home. He was arrested in 2011 after police investigated reports of a decomposition odor in his home and found the bodies of 11 women in and around his home.

Sowell was found guilty of eleven counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He died in prison in January 2021 at the age of 63.
